DESERT WILLOW

DESERT WILLOW (Chilopsis linearis)

The desert willow is a shrub or tree that can reach up to 10 metres in height and is common along the more permanent water courses in desert environments. It has linear leaves, resembling those of common willows (Salix species) but is not a true willow. Instead it is a member of the Catalpa family (Bignoniaceae) with highly distinctive flowers and long, pendulous fruits.
