BRITTLEBUSH (Encelia farinosa) Brittlebush is a common shrub in the Sonoran and Mojave Desert communities. It can reach a height of 1 metre or more, but typically is a smaller, compact, rounded bush. Its bright yellow flowers are typical of the "composites" (family Asteraceae). They are borne on stalks that project above the leaves. The leaves themselves are typically grey-green. This plant is very drought-tolerant and can retain its leaves throughout much of the year.
