Saguaros begin to flower at about 30-40 years of age. The larger plant in this image is over 2 metres tall. Flower buds are produced in vertical columns on the ribs of the youngest parts of the plant. The flowers open at night and remain open through to midday (see close-up image below). GO TO: |
