PINACATE VALLEY FLOOR

VIEWS FROM ELEGANTE CRATER RIM, PINACATE


This image, and the one below, show how
ocotillo and creosote bush on the slope leading up to the crater rim (foreground) are replaced by a mixed community dominated by saguaro cacti and subtrees (mainly paloverde and ironwood) across the valley floor. The land surface is broken by cinder cones and uplifted lava beds.
